Kinesiology Taping
Kinesiology taping is a physiotherapy method in which special elastic tapes (kinesio tapes) are applied to the skin to support muscles, joints, and soft tissues without restricting movement.
How it works:
-
The tape gently lifts the skin, improving blood circulation and lymphatic drainage (reducing swelling and inflammation)
-
Provides a proprioceptive signal (the body becomes more aware of the targeted area), which helps improve movement quality
-
Can assist in stabilizing joints or muscle groups without rigid fixation
When it is used:
-
Sports injuries (sprains, bruises, knee or ankle instability)
-
Back and joint pain
-
To reduce swelling and lymphatic drainage problems
-
Muscle tension or postural issues
-
Post-surgery rehabilitation
-
During pregnancy
Kinesiology tapes come in different colors, but the color is purely aesthetic and does not affect their function.
