What to bring and how to prepare
1. Do I need a doctor’s referral to see a physiotherapist?
- No referral is required to visit a physiotherapist.
- However, if your sessions are covered by an insurance company, they may require a referral in order to reimburse the costs.
2. What medical documents or test results should I bring?
-
Previous medical records related to your complaints (doctor’s notes, hospital discharge summaries, surgery reports)
-
Results of any diagnostic tests, if available (X-ray, MRI, ultrasound, or CT scan reports)
-
A list of medications if you are taking regular prescriptions (especially those affecting the musculoskeletal or cardiovascular system)
-
Your insurance card if you plan to use health insurance coverage
3. What should I wear and bring to the session?
-
Comfortable sportswear that allows free movement
-
Clean indoor sports shoes with non-slip soles (not used outdoors)
-
A water bottle to stay hydrated during the session
-
A towel and shower gel if you wish to use the shower after the session
If anything specific is required (e.g., tape, brace, or special equipment), your physiotherapist will let you know in advance.
